Choosing Blade Pressure for Different Screen Protector Materials

Recommended cutting pressure ranges from 250 to 450, depending on the material’s hardness and thickness.

Blade pressure should be set according to the screen protector material. Regular back film generally requires 250–300, four-layer soft film 300–350, UV material 350–400, and explosion-proof material 350–450. A pressure of 300 works well for most screen protector materials, but harder materials require greater cutting pressure, while thicker materials require a higher blade holder scale.

Recommended Settings by Material

The recommended combination of cutting pressure and blade holder scale varies by material type. Use the following ranges for regular materials:

Material TypeBlade Holder ScaleCutting Pressure
Back Film4–5250–300
Four-layer Soft Film4–6300–350
UV Material6–7350–400
Explosion-proof Material7–8350–450

These values are recommendations for regular materials. The appropriate setting within each range depends mainly on the material’s physical properties.

How Thickness and Hardness Affect the Settings

Blade holder scale and cutting pressure address different material characteristics. The thicker the material, the higher the blade holder scale should be. The harder the material, the greater the cutting pressure required. For this reason, both values may need consideration when changing from one material type to another.

For most screen protector materials, a blade pressure of 300 is a suitable general setting. Changes are normally needed only when the material’s thickness or hardness requires a different pressure or blade holder scale.

Choosing an Appropriate Setting

  • Identify the material type and use its recommended pressure and blade holder scale range.
  • Consider material hardness when selecting cutting pressure; harder materials require greater pressure.
  • Consider material thickness when selecting the blade holder scale; thicker materials require a higher scale.
  • Adjust blade pressure and blade holder scale only when required by the material.

Limits on Higher Settings

Avoid using excessively high blade pressure or blade holder scale for long periods. Settings that are too high can accelerate wear on machine components, damage the cutting material, or cause abnormal cutting. Documented abnormal results can include cutting through only the top one or two layers instead of achieving the intended cutting result.

The best-supported approach is to stay within the recommended range for the specific material rather than increasing pressure unnecessarily. For a general starting point across most screen protector materials, use blade pressure 300, then apply the material-specific ranges when its hardness or thickness requires a different setting.
