Resolve Error 1002 or Identify a Possible Mainboard Fault

Error 1002 indicates an internal serial communication error that may require a Wi-Fi reconnection, restart, factory reset, or mainboard replacement.

Error 1002 indicates a serial communication error within the machine. First, reconnect the machine to Wi-Fi and restart it. If the error remains, restart the device again and, while it is starting, quickly tap the blue icon 10 times, then select “Factory Reset.” If reconnecting, restarting, and the factory reset do not resolve Error 1002, the mainboard is likely faulty and may need to be replaced.

What Error 1002 Means

This error identifies a serial communication problem within the machine. The documented troubleshooting process begins with reconnecting the device to Wi-Fi and restarting it. If that does not resolve the issue, the next supported remedy is a factory reset performed through a specific startup action.

A continuing Error 1002 after both remedies has a different implication: the mainboard is likely to be faulty. Mainboard replacement may then need to be considered.

Troubleshooting Steps

Follow the documented actions in order. The factory-reset option should be used if reconnecting to Wi-Fi and restarting the device do not resolve the error.

  1. Reconnect to Wi-Fi and restart the device. Check whether Error 1002 is resolved after the restart.
  2. Restart the device again if the error continues. This restart begins the documented factory-reset method.
  3. Quickly tap the blue icon 10 times during startup. Perform the taps as the machine is starting up.
  4. Select “Factory Reset.” This completes the documented reset action for Error 1002.

Expected Result

The expected result is that Error 1002 is resolved after reconnecting the machine to Wi-Fi and restarting it, or after completing the factory reset. Check the machine after each method to determine whether the error still occurs. If the error no longer appears, no further action from this troubleshooting sequence is required.

If Error 1002 Continues

If the Wi-Fi reconnection, restart, and factory reset do not resolve the problem, the documented likely cause is a faulty mainboard. At that point, consider replacing the mainboard. No additional troubleshooting method is specified for a persistent Error 1002 after the factory-reset procedure.
